Saying that politics is theatre is at the same time true, a cliche, cynical, and not even close to a complete picture. It’s really more of a multidisciplinary art form with real-world ramifications.

I’m starting to panic. It’s the last day of school and I know that I haven’t done the work in several classes. Should I avoid them? Try to take the exams anyways? Can I get my money back this late in the semester if I never went to class?

Just after 6am on a random Tuesday in the spring of 2014, I exited the first Orange Line Metro of the day at De la Concorde Station in Laval. It didn’t take long to find who I was looking for. No one was there except for the people hanging around the multi-seat van.

It was a winding concrete orgy of overpasses and underpasses. Treacherous and sketchy for pedestrians, confusing for motorists, and ultimately pointless for everyone.

It had already taken us an extra 20 minutes for the pre-recorded footage to render, so we were late to go live. Our special guest, Velma Candyass of the Candyass Cabaret had been waiting patiently through the live intro banter, and the mini-movie pre-recorded segment. Then, just before the interview segment, my chair caught on fire.

July 28th is a time for change. It’s both World Nature Conservation Day, and Jackie Kennedy-Onassis’ birthday, so how could it not be? This is when people traditionally change things up, so why should I be any different?

Fun Fact: You wouldn’t be reading this now if Laurence Tenenbaum hadn’t invited me to a party in the summer of 1996.

I am a self-proclaimed transit aficionado. I love almost all new transit projects. I hoped beyond hope (and still do) that the Montreal Metro will be extended.

Over the years, I’ve always tried to keep my day jobs, which I do primarily, if not almost exclusively, for money, separate from my passion project or projects, whatever they may be at the time. There was one giant exception to this rule.

Facebook Memories are a mixed bag, to say the least. Sometimes it truly is a great memory of a party or trip, sometimes it’s a reminder that I used to think my status update had to be in the form of a sentence with my name included (“Jason C. McLean is enjoying lunch” and such…aaah 2008), while sometimes it’s a reminder of something I would just as soon forget.
